Losers Love Computers

I'm one of those people who had a hard time getting into photography. I couldn't feel it the same way I felt painting. Until I got into the darkroom. Then I "got" it.

And that's why I refuse to post Photos (with a capital "p") on Flickr. Instead, I have a collection of snapshots and memories of my little adventures that would have otherwise been washed away by alcohol. To me digital photography is the realm of photoshopping photojournalists and Internet fatties. And that's why every time I hear/see someone talk about their digital photographs I vom a little in my mouth. And I'm not alone!!!

Baloney! I think that what you may be more upset with is a lack of self editing by digital photographers (gasp!), not to mention the lack of formal training needed to take a digital photo (the horror!). But why make art easy? Art should be for artists, and kept a safe distance from the hands of commoners.

And anyway, there can still be process, form, concept and artistic intent behind a digital photo. Especially when speaking of concept, note that digital cameras lend us the ability to conceal due to their shrinking size. So, for instance an art project of candid photographs gets that much more exciting.

Also, digital cameras give us things that other cameras cannot, namely depth. The depth of digital camera photography is nearly infinite, whereas there is no such comparable analogue camera. And that's just the technical aspect of it!

Anyway, all I'm saying is, I'm the type of guy that always goes for a vinyl record over a CD, but I don't not have any CDs. I also take Polaroids and 35mm with a rangefinder. I'd love to get a medium format camera. But I'm not going to give up taking interesting photos of things with my digi-cam!
